Privacy Policy — SecureComm
SecureComm (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the SecureComm mobile application and related services. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. We aim to be transparent and to protect your data with appropriate technical and organizational measures.
1. Information we collect
We may collect the following categories of information, depending on how you use the app:
- Account information. For example, your email address and profile details you provide when you register or update your account.
- Communication content and metadata. Messages, attachments (such as images, video, audio, or documents), and related delivery data may be processed so we can route, deliver, sync, and display conversations. Where the app applies end-to-end encryption, message content is designed to be encrypted on your device before it reaches our systems; we still process what is necessary to operate the service (for example, encrypted payloads, delivery state, and timestamps).
- Contacts (optional). If you grant permission, we may access or process contact information from your device to help you find people you know. You can revoke this permission in your device settings.
- Call-related data. Data needed to establish and manage voice or video calls (for example, session or signaling information) may be processed when you use calling features.
- Technical and operational data. Such as device type, app version, diagnostic or performance data, and security logs, where needed to run and secure the service.
2. Device permissions
The app may ask for access to features on your device. You control these in system settings. Examples include:
- Camera — for video calls and capturing media to share.
- Microphone — for voice messages and calls.
- Storage or media library — to attach or save images, video, or other files when you choose to.
- Contacts — to suggest or match people you may know, if you opt in.
- Location — only when you choose to share your location inside a chat or feature that explicitly requests it.
3. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide messaging, calling, media sharing, and related features;
- Authenticate accounts and prevent abuse;
- Deliver notifications (for example, through push notification services when you enable them);
- Maintain reliability, performance, and security of the service;
- Comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests where required.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Storage, retention, and minimization
We retain information only for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Some content may be stored temporarily to enable delivery, sync, or media workflows (for example, while a message is pending or until recipients have retrieved it, according to product behavior). We work to minimize what we store and how long we keep it, consistent with operating a real-time communications product.
5. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we encourage you to use a strong password, keep your device updated, and review app permissions regularly.
6. Service providers
We may use trusted service providers to host infrastructure, send push notifications, or perform similar functions on our behalf. They may process limited data only as instructed by us and subject to appropriate safeguards. For example, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) may be used to deliver push notifications; such providers have their own privacy notices describing their processing.
7. Your choices and controls
- You can grant or revoke device permissions (camera, microphone, location, contacts, etc.) in your device settings.
- Location and other sensitive sharing typically require an explicit action in the app when you choose to share.
- You may request access, correction, or deletion of account information where applicable law provides those rights, using the contact below.
- To delete your SecureComm account, use our account deletion request page (registered email and optional reason).
8. Children’s privacy
SecureComm is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.
9. International users
Your information may be processed in countries where we or our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate mechanisms to protect data transferred across borders.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date. If changes are material, we will provide notice as required by law or through the app.
